Every Tuesday I answer a question from a Good Food listener. You can email me a question, leave one on Facebook or add one in the comments section here. This week’s question comes from Lynn:

My friend wants to order 20-ish not-too-expensive rustic fall pies for her wedding in late Oct. Any suggestions?

Ok, Lynn, we immediately run into definition problems here. What is “not too expensive”. And what are “rustic”? As my mother always reminds me we can run over to Marie Callendar’s and get a quite edible pie for $7. I’m assuming you’d like a step up from this. Here are a few local suggestions.

Simple Things Sandwich and Pie Shop– Their average pie is $20, but they also have little Cutie Pies which are the cupcake equivalent of pies and might be nice for a wedding.

I Heart Pieshas good homemade pies for $25/each.

Du Pars has good, simple pies in the $12 range.

And I also should mention that Stephanie Shaiken, who won Best In Show for her Classic Apple Pie at the Third Annual Good Food Pie Contest, sells her pies under the the name Crust By Stephanie Jayne. Stephanie’s pies are on average about $28/pie.
