Arthur King's Changing Landscapes (Isle of Eigg)
Take a trip to the remote Isle of Eigg, in the Scottish Hebrides, with Arthur King’s Changing Landscapes. While on an artist residency, Grandaddy’s Jason Lytle and Arthur King spent a week exploring the island, collecting a vast amount of photographic, audio, and video source material. At the end of their trip the group took the recorded elements, and set up audio/visual equipment at a local’s house for an hours-long improvisation session. The results are this record, of which the BBC3’s Corey Mwamba explains, "they’ve created this very fine textured fabric of sound, from which a narrative of life on this island springs."
Arthur King is a Los Angeles-based experimental music and art studio that features musicians, visual artists, filmmakers, and set designers. The process, or artistic methodology, of the Changing Landscapes series is focused primarily on field recordings, and is the unchanging framework that allows the location to truly serve as the focus of the art. Changing Landscapes (Isle of Eigg) was recorded in 2019 in the Scottish Hebrides.
