As part of a deal with the federal government, Corinthian Colleges of Santa Ana is selling or shutting down almost 100 of its for-profit campuses across the country. This comes after more than a year of state and federal investigations into accusations of false advertising aimed at low income students who qualify for large federal loans. Many graduates say that promises of job placement have not panned out, and the Department of Education is withholding loan money. It says Corinthian falsified job placement and academic records and refused to turn over some documents.
