It wasn’t always that way. A new book profiles a leader who got things done, and not that long ago. Jess Unruh was Speaker of the State Assembly and later State Treasurer. He ran against Ronald Reagan in 1970. He’s now the subject of a new book called “Big Daddy: Jess Unruh and the Art of Power Politics.”
