On his last night in office, former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger reduced the prison sentence of Esteban Núñez from 16 years to seven. Two years ago, Núñez was involved in a knife fight at San Diego State University, during which a 22-year-old man was stabbed to death. Núñez is now 21. He’s the son of former Assembly Speaker Fabian Núñez, a Democrat who worked closely with Schwarzenegger. It was only the tenth time in seven years that Schwarzenegger commuted a sentence.
