USGS Releases New Earthquake Scenarios for the Southland

What if an earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter Scale—like the one in China--struck Southern California? On November 13th, Governor Schwarzenegger’s office and the federal Department of Homeland Security will conduct a preparedness exercise designed to answer that question. The state and federal geological surveys have provided what they call a ShakeOut Scenario.
