In 2011, Governor Brown and the legislature dissolved more than 400 California Redevelopment Agencies. They had done some good things, but had developed a bad reputation for allegedly mis-using the power of eminent domain. Now the Governor has signed a bill, with support from both parties, creating new agencies, which also will have the power of eminent domain. They’re to be called Community Revitalization and Investment Authorities.
