Jason Leopold, of Dow Jones Newswire, tracks today's problem to qualifying facilities that have shut down after not being paid by Southern California Edison since November, and predicts an energy-scarce summer.
- Reporter's Notebook: Richie Valens Inducted into Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame - Richie Valens took his music from the barrio to the whole world before his career was tragically cut short at the age of 17. Immortalized on a postage stamp and in the biographical movie La Bamba, tonight Valens will be inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame. Bob Keane, president of Del-Fi Records, discovered the young rocker.
County Health Care Crisis
Without a leader and bleeding red ink, LA County's healthcare system is in crisis, overburdened by uninsured who rely on emergency rooms and public clinics. County supervisors are set on change but appears unwilling to make cuts. The man hired to save the floundering system has resigned, as has one of his top deputies. We look at the pending political battle and the shortage of government funds that could expand critically needed medical coverage with Rick Brown, of the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research, and County Supervisor Gloria Molina whose district includes the County-USC Medical Center.
