Tuesday’s election isn’t creating a lot of interest in much of Southern California, but in Santa Monica, it’s a different story. One ballot measure could effectively shut down the historic airport, and the other could keep it open. The Santa Monica City Council put Measure LC on the ballot. LC stands for Local Control. Aviation interests raised enough signatures to put Measure D on the ballot. In a town of 92,000 people, they’ve contributed more than $800,000 to get it passed. We get some background and hear arguments from both.
