Seven years ago in the razor-thin presidential election, Florida became famous for butterfly ballots and hanging chads. In Sarasota, federal investigators have put touch-screen voting machines under lock and key, as they continue to investigate 18,000 lost votes that may have changed the outcome of a 2006 congressional race. Today, as Republican presidential candidates facing off for their party's nomination, nearly a third of Florida's voters are casting their votes on the same kind of machines.
