The Army Rangers, the Navy Seals and the Marine infantry are currently closed to women. A couple years ago, then-Defense Secretary Leon Panetta ordered the Joint Chiefs to study the feasibility of opening all jobs in the military to women and gave them until next year to make a decision. The current Secretary, Ash Carter, will get recommendations next week. Despite recent performances by female soldiers, the Marine Corps Commandant and some members of Congress are pushing back against gender equality.
