Democrats in the Missouri State Senate filibustered for 39 hours before Republicans staged a power play and passed a measure that could amend the state constitution to protect religious beliefs by allowing refusals of service to married gays and lesbians. Even presidential candidates of both political parties are taking sides in the pitched battle.
