President Bush has accepted Donald Rumsfeld's resignation as Secretary of Defense. His chosen replacement is former CIA Director Robert Gates. Asked if new leadership means a new direction at the Pentagon, President Bush acknowledged that he and Secretary Rumsfeld agreed that "sometimes it's necessary to have a fresh perspective."
