Less Water, More Anxiety

Despite some slight improvement over the last few months in the west, long-term drought persists – especially here in Southern California. The parched Golden State has its own problems when it comes to the water that flows *inside the state. But California is also one of several states trying to resolve how best to keeping tapping a dwindling supply of water from the Colorado River. Lake Mead in Nevada – which was formed with the river by the Hoover Dam – is at its lowest point since 1935: at 37 percent of capacity. Leaving a shortage of supply and – with population growth in the west – an increasing demand.
