Edison sues Santa Barbara County over last year’s mudslides

More than 75 lawsuits have been filed against Southern California Edison for igniting the Thomas Fire back in 2017, which set the stage for deadly debris flows in Montecito. Now, the utility giant is pointing its finger elsewhere.

More than 75 lawsuits have been filed against Southern California Edison for igniting the Thomas Fire back in 2017, which set the stage for deadly debris flows in Montecito. Now, the utility giant is pointing its finger elsewhere. Edison is suing Santa Barbara County, Caltrans and several other agencies for failing to adequately prepare for debris flows, and says they should share any liabilities it faces from the disaster.
