California Attorney General Kamala Harris is widely seen as the frontrunner in the race to fill Barbara Boxer’s soon-to-be-open U.S. Senate seat, even though nearly half of likely voters are still undecided. Because of her frontrunner status, she was was the bullseye on the target for challengers at Tuesday’s debate in San Diego. Right out of the gates, opponent Duf Sundheim said, “Kamala is failing to keep us safe.” Harris also took tough questions from the moderators on officer-involved shootings and nuclear waste disposal.
