General Motors made big headlines earlier this week, and this time, it had nothing to do with massive recalls. G.M.’s CEO Mary Bara announced that the company will be unveiling cars that can steer, accelerate and brake themselves. It’s not a self-driving car, necessarily, but a big step in that direction. Was the timing of the announcement coincidental, considering all the public troubles the company has been dealing with?
