American diplomats heard a mysterious sound in their homes in Cuba a few years ago. Some suffered dizziness, insomnia, and hearing loss. Donald Trump blamed Cuba. Others argued the noises were a result of a sonic weapon or a microwave attack. Then a biologist heard the recording, and found that it was indistinguishable from recordings of crickets. This isn’t the first time an animal has created a mystery by sounding weird.
