Meg Wolitzer’s “The Female Persuasion” is her 12th book. She began writing it years before the “MeToo” movement, but it couldn’t have landed at a more appropriate time. The book begins with the novel’s protagonist – 18-year-old Greer – being assaulted by a guy at a frat party. Then she meets an older feminist icon named Faith, who becomes her mentor and champion. The book tracks Greer and Faith’s complicated friendship and tells a broader story of how feminism is being defined by young and older activists.
