The House of Representatives passed a huge tax cut package worth more than $600 billion today. Tomorrow, it will vote on a $1.1 trillion spending bill to keep the government open until September of next year. That’s also expected to pass. Seventy-seven Democrats voted with the Republican majority in support of the tax cut bill today, but Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic leadership in the House opposed it. One naysayer was Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez of Orange County, who’s campaigning to replace California Senator Barbara Boxer when she retires after this term. Sanchez speaks about the race, recently passed measures and responds to criticism over her comments on Muslims.
