When there’s a school shooting, the national media pays close attention, politicians urge action, and there’s an outpouring of grief for families who lost children. But some LA County students face the same trauma and stress from shootings, and there’s scant attention paid to them. There have been scores of homicides clustered within a mile of some South LA high schools. We look at how that affects kids as they try to get to school -- and then when they try to learn in the classroom.
