Thirteen parents in the college admissions cheating scandal pled guilty on Monday, including actress Felicity Huffman. In a written statement, she said she’s “ashamed” and wants to “apologize to the students who work hard every day to get into college, and to their parents who make tremendous sacrifices to support their children and do so honestly.” The scandal came as a surprise to some, but not to others. Caitlin Flanagan worked as a college counselor at the elite prep school Harvard Westlake for three years in the 1990s and has now written an Atlantic article titled “They Had It Coming.”
