Romance novels don’t show up that often on the bestseller lists, and they don’t win big book awards. But tales of love and lust are hugely popular. One estimate is that they’re a fifth of all adult-fiction sales. That’s more than a billion dollars of books sold every year. That’s largely because romance readers are voracious: almost half of them read at least one book per week. They’re a diverse group of people from around the world who share one thing in a common – a desire for “happily ever after.” And they get what they’re looking for, whether they’re reading a historical bodice-ripper or a story of paranormal love. A new documentary titled “Love Between The Covers” takes a loving look at the world of romance novels.
