Donald Trump's bad week

Is Donald Trump in free fall? His criticism of Khizr Khan, the Muslim father of a soldier killed in Iraq, dominated the news cycle and three national polls had him down 9, 10 and 15 points. Is this a lasting shift or just a bump in the road? Republican insiders are discussing what would happen if Trump stepped down as a candidate. "It's just pathetic, wishful thinking that Trump will drop out," Rich Lowry of the conservative #NeverTrump movement said. Win or lose, will the Republican Party come out of the election an embattled party? "As it stands, it's cracked. It's two different parties -- the elites and the base," Trump supporter AJ Delgado said. Democratic pollster Margie Omero said that she doesn't wish for their failure, but the dialogue that is happening right now is so corrosive, it's terrible for all of us."
