Brazilian legend Milton Nascimento and five-time Grammy-winning musician and composer esperanza spalding have teamed up for their first collaborative album, Milton + esperanza ( due Aug. 9 via Concord Records). Recorded in Brazil throughout 2023, the album picks up on a friendship that was forged fifteen years ago and reimagines some of Nascimento’s most beloved songs alongside new work written by spalding. Plus, it includes covers of classics by The Beatles and Michael Jackson. But that’s not all! There are guests galore including Paul Simon, Dianne Reeves, and on “Saudade Dos Aviões Da Panair (Conversando No Bar)” we are blessed with the contributions of Lianne La Havas, Maria Gadu, Tim Bernardes, and Lula Galvāo.
