Cassandra Violet: ‘The Tallest Mountain’

Boyle Heights high school teacher and LA native singer/songwriter, Cassandra Violet, is back with her first new work in a couple of years.

“I wrote the song after a relationship I was in for a long time ended, and I stayed in my friends' apartment and hardly told anyone what was happening,” Violet says. “I still went to work every day and put on a good face, while on the inside I had never felt more alone.

“This made me feel like I was keeping a secret from the world, like I was all alone on the top of a mountain and I had no one to share my hurt with, and that is when I wrote ‘The Tallest Mountain.’ My amazing backup singers arranged the background vocals in the chorus, and their echoing voices represent that we never are truly alone.”
