King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard's latest album, Flight b741, is a love letter to classic country rock.

The band tried something different, with everyone taking turn on vocals and building off each other's lyrics. Frontman Stu Mackenzie says the process was more instinctual.

"There have been records where someone has brought in an idea and said 'Will the bass player please play this?' or 'With the drums, I was thinking this kind of beat?' But this wasn't like that. This was like, you were allowed to bring in a napkin sketch and it could consist of a few chord progressions."

In this session, Mackenzie shares details on the Gizz's forthcoming album, Phantom Island. He says the record started because the band had been approached by an orchestra to play some shows, to Stu's surprise.
