After last week’s quick peek behind the curtain, the heat is on once again between our current Top 30 frontrunners Totally Enormous Dinosaurs and Gabriels. Last week’s list featured a challenge from long-time KCRW favorite Santigold, who briefly claimed the number one spot. Though she finds herself on a lower-rung of the top ten this week, her latest album “Spirituals” is still in very heavy rotation.
Speaking of spirituality, the newest edition to our cosmic chart consortium is mind-melting psychedelic jazz collective The Comet Is Coming. The London-based trio is one of several projects anchored by the otherworldly talent of composer Shabaka Hutchings (Sons of Kemet, Shabaka and the Ancestors).
