Flying Lotus’ new EP Spirit Box hit the ground running when it comes to racking up spins on KCRW. While the EP itself was something of a surprise, the immediate heavy rotation was not — especially when you factor in excellent features from Dawn Richard and Sid Sriram. Just behind Fly-lo is Tunde Adebimpe (of TV on the Radio) with a new solo project debut for the mighty Sub Pop records. LCD Soundsystem drops from the top spot to no. 3 following the official release of X-Ray Eyes, Tyler the Creator makes a splashy Top 30 debut at no. 4 following the release of his new LP CHROMAKOPIA, and after many weeks spent hovering around the margins Ruthven comes in hot with a top ten placement for his recently released LP Rough & Ready.
New and notable: Not new, but infinitely notable is Randy Newman's solo piano version of "I Love LA" as performed live on Morning Becomes Eclectic in May of 1999. Go Dodgers!
