KCRW’s Top 30 chart: Oct. 23 – 29, 2023

Legitimately excellent art is worth waiting for. Case in point, the spiritually imbued and achingly melodic breakbeat that composes Sampha’s new LP Lahai. The album finally makes its way to first position on KCRW’s Top 30 Chart — a full week after its Oct. 20, 2023 release date. The album itself has been six-years-in-the-making, following 2017’s Mercury Prize winning Process. KCRW DJs understandably needed time to (ahem) process such a complex work, and now here we are.

New and notable: Underground dance-punks Red Axes’ freshly released LP One More City is positively oozing indie sleaze, and that outright audacity has propelled it straight into the Top Ten. Wondering where to turn for all treats and zero tricks on this All Hallows Eve? Why, our Top 30 Spotify playlist, of course.
