On the eve of their eight night LA residency (four nights at the Shrine Auditorium, four nights at the Hollywood Palladium beginning on Halloween), LCD Soundsystem leads the pack of KCRW’s most played records this week with the advance of their new single "X-Ray Eyes.” And the KCRW airwaves are among the few places where you can hear it — “X-Ray Eyes” won’t hit record stores or DSPs until Friday, Nov. 1. But fear not, there are plenty of more widely accessible tunes to explore, including ones from French psych-rockers La Femme whose latest LP Rock Machine has climbed all the way up to no. 2. Plus, the pioneering British electro group Underworld come in hot at no. 3 with their 11th studio album Strawberry Hotel, LA dance-punks YACHT maintain a powerful KCRW chart presence with their return to the top five (it’s their fourth time here), and Australian DJ/producer Anna Lunoe debuts at no. 5 on the KCRW Top 30 following the release of her debut album, Pearl.
New and Notable: Electronic duo Maribou State have released "Bloom," the third single ahead of their forthcoming record Hallucinating Love and it clearly has KCRW DJs enthralled given its solid top ten placement. Aussie disco-boogie band Parcels recently released the groovy new single "Leaveyourlove," and we’re loving it to the tune of it receiving enough spins to come in at no. 8. And we must acknowledge "Graucha Max," Darkside’s first release as a trio, with its extra rich sound from the addition of new drummer Tlacael Esparza. P.S. Please don’t sleep on Montreal-based collective La Sécurité and the delightfully frenetic post-punk stylings of their new single "Detour.” See them live if/when you can.
