KCRW’s Top 30: Nick Hakim, NxWorries, Alvvays

As tough as it is to see our long-reigning champs Gabriels slip down so many spots, the fact that this seismic reshuffling has opened space for Nick Hakim to secure a place in the top three for his trippy, and deceptively intricate, instant soul classic “COMETA,” is pretty sweet. The rest of the top ten is beginning to resemble a game of musical chairs. Several albums are switching spots, but the list is largely the same as it’s been for the past few weeks (save for the additions of Hakim and Dry Cleaning). Allow your eyes to drift further down the list, and you’ll find fresh life in the form of brand new singles from Genesis Owusu, NxWorries, and Young Fathers. Plus, never count out Canadian indiepop warriors Alvvays, who have returned to valiantly plant their flag at the base of the Top 20.
