KCRW’s Top 30 chart: June 5–June 11, 2023

Say She She, living their best lives. Photo by Christopher Sikich.

Brooklyn trio Say She She coined the term discodelic to characterize their particular brand of vocal acrobatics layered atop the slinky melodies and punchy rhythms provided by their backing band Orgōne. “C’est Si Bon” finds them wielding these powers to their fullest as they channel their namesake band Chic. KCRW DJs have proceeded to freak out over it en masse.

New and notable: Sleazy (in all the right ways) UK punk royalty Baxter Dury makes a splash with his phenomenally titled LP I Thought I Was Better Than You; poet aja monet illuminates the potency of the spoken word via her latest release when the poems do what they do; and LA’s favorite daughter Jenny Lewis charts at last.
