KCRW’s Top 30 chart: Aug. 7 – 13, 2023

To be honest, knowing as we have for some time that British funk-soul brothers Jungle would be dropping their fourth LP Volcano during this week’s stretch of chart data collection… We were already 99.9 percent sure it was coming in at number one. And you know what? It feels good to be right, especially when the music delivers as consistently as Jungle’s does.

New and notable: Enigmatic (but always eviscerating) emcee Noname recently announced a new LP, Sundial. Many doubted it would come to fruition when promised, but surprise: It’s here, it’s spectacular, and it’s number 12 on the chart. Plus, quirky Oaklanders Meernaa whip up a fever pitch of anticipation for the Oct. 6 release of their new album So Far So Good, and Global Beat: Australia alum Skeleten officially gets under our skin. Work it all out to our Top 30 Spotify playlist.
