Seth Avett and Jessica Lea Mayfield

Over the course of five solo albums with the band Heatmiser and a couple of posthumous releases, the late singer/songwriter Elliott Smith amassed a remarkable catalog of music that has stood the test of time, with fans ranging from rockers Pearl Jam to jazz pianist Brad Mehldau.  Twelve years after Smith’s passing, two acclaimed artists in their own right have teamed up for their own album-length tribute to his music.  Seth Avett (of the Avett Brothers) & Jessica Lea Mayfield both strip down and expand on Smith’s arrangements, giving an alternate look at one of the most beloved discographies in pop music, which we are excited to have them share with us on Morning Becomes Eclectic.
