Our beloved Oakland post-punks Fake Fruit delivered their blistering sophomore LP Mucho Mistrust a couple of weeks ago and we’re properly catching up now. It rules. Consult today’s spin of album highlight “Ponies” for concrete proof. Plus, a stunning demo version of Roy Ayers’ classic “Sunshine” to help celebrate the influential artist’s 84th birthday. And to celebrate the phenomenal life of another influential artist, we’re sharing the iconic voice of recently departed actor James Earl Jones reciting the poetry of Walt Whitman’s “When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd” — a poem which was written as an elegy following the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln in 1865.
