In the midst of an action-packed week with more excitement ahead tomorrow (👀), we invite you to slow down a bit with Icelandic duo Padda. The pair are lifelong friends and survivors of Reykjavik’s early ‘80s post-punk scene. A recently released debut EP — Fluid Time — finds them fascinated by the perception of time and space. Their compositions fill the ether with inspiration from free-form jazz and the punk aesthetics of their youth. Sample these far out sounds via the EP stand out “Bug,” which you’ll hear as part of this edition of MBE. Plus, the gentle rhythms of modern highlife band The Cavemen., LA-by-way-of Minneapolis bedroom funkmeisters King Pari, and a giveaway to catch *checks notes* OASIS LIVE AT THE ROSE BOWL IN 2025(!!!).
