Singer-songwriter Lucy Dacus is gearing up for a whirlwind Spring and Summer of touring behind her freshly released fourth album, Forever Is A Feeling. Dacus’ songwriting bonafides are formidable, look no further than the enduring queer heartbreak anthem “Night Shift” (track one, side one of Dacus’ sophomore LP Historian) for proof. She’s also explored adolescence and breaking free of expectations on 2021’s Home Video and, of course, there are her contributions to the culture at large via boygenius — the bracingly self-aware, multi-Grammy winning folk-pop trio comprised of Dacus, Phoebe Bridgers, and Julien Baker.

On Forever Is A Feeling, Dacus tapped a wide range of collaborators to make her most assured and richly produced record to date. These collaborators include Bridgers, Baker, Irish neo-R&B phenom Hozier, Blake Mills, Bartees Strange, Madison Cunningham, Collin Pastore, Jake Finch, and Melina Duterte. The album’s lead single, “Ankles,” garnered Dacus her first top ten single on the triple A radio charts.

On the heels of sharing the new LP far and wide, Dacus stops by KCRW for a chat about the work and to share some songs that she loves as part of a guest selector set: From LCD Soundsystem’s “underrated songwriting” on “Someone Great,” to her assertion that it would be “disrespectful” to cite anything other than Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car” as the ultimate sapphic love song. Lucy Dacus will headline two nights at LA’s Greek Theatre on May 14 & 15, 2025 and we’re currently giving away tickets to the show on Wednesday, May 14. Enter here for your chance to win.
