I’ve already written so many complimentary words about the Black Keys in my time here at KCRW that I feel redundant doing it again.

They came. They played. They conquered.

In fact, they were the first band to play in our newly remodeled studio (check out that royal blue and all the wood paneling!) for Morning Becomes Eclectic and I can’t think of a better band to christen it.

The guys had been out until 4am the night before but you wouldn’t have known it. While some bands feed off an audience, others seem as though they would play as hard in their parents’ basement with no one else around. The Black Keys – two buddies from Akron, OH – are that kind of band.

After their stop at KCRW, they were headed out to shoot the video for “Howlin’ For You,” so now we all have something to look forward to.

Check out the full performance here.
