I feel like I JUST said, "I can't believe it's March" and now we’re a few days away from April. Well, here are few new releases that will likely make tax season go by a bit smoother.
Marvin Gaye - You're The Man
You're the Man is the posthumous studio album that was long considered "lost." It was originally intended to be released in 1972 as the follow-up to the classic What's Going On. Similar to its predecessor, You're the Man was another socially conscious record. However, sometime after the release of its lead single (and title track), Gaye cancelled it entirely. Many speculate that he made the unexpected decision in part, due to the reception of the song, as well as the fact his political views differed from Motown's founder, Berry Gordy.
Well, as of today, some 47 years later and just days before what would have been his 80th birthday (April 2nd), Gaye's You're the Man is finally out. Though many of the 17 songs were made available on CD compilations over the years, 15 of the tracks on the album have not been previously released on vinyl. The album also features an extended version of "Want to Come Home for Christmas." The CD includes liner notes written by David Ritz, who has written novels, biographies, and over a hundred liner notes for artists such as Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, and Nat King Cole. Check out the SalaAM ReMi Remix of "My Last Chance."
Lizzo – “Tempo” feat. Missy Elliott
I thought long and hard about what I should say about this song. I've ultimately decided to let the track do the talking. Lizzo says it all and perhaps a bit too much because this is NSFW. Do enjoy :)
