Summer is coming. While it might not feel that way now, the heat is imminent. One sure sign is the 2023 KCRW Festival line-up at the Hollywood Bowl. This season’s edition, in partnership with the LA Phil, features a stacked bill that includes Portugal. The Man, Chicano Batman, Maggie Rogers, My Morning Jacket, Fleet Foxes, Say She She, Alvvays, Los Auténticos Decadentes, and, of course, Reggae Night — with more to be announced. It all kicks off in July and runs through September.
In the interest of shaking things up a little, Reggae Night XXI goes first this year. The legendary party enters its third decade on Sunday, July 23 with sets from Beres Hammond, Steel Pulse, and Third World to have you ranking and skanking in the aisles with total abandon.
Then we’re in for a jam-packed August with shows happening nearly every week. Aug. 6 finds Portugal. The Man, Chicano Batman, and our disodelic darlings Say She She all rocking the historic stage for the very first time. The following Sunday brings the inspired pairing of the Billboard-chart-approved, razor-sharp songwriting of Maggie Rogers alongside Canadian dreampop icons Alvvays. Sets from Fleet Foxes, My Morning Jacket, and an Argentinian ska extravaganza from Los Auténticos Decadentes round things out. And we’re just getting started, so watch this space for all the goods.
