From KCRW DJ Chris Douridas:

Last August, my friend Heather emailed me to insist i check out this band GROUPLOVE. I immediately reached out to the band and got a copy of their EP, which was released last Spring.

After a quick listen, the first song to jump out at me was “Naked Kids,” a dreamy pop confection detailing a hazy day trip to the beach.

Stream “Naked Kids”:

That song, and Heather’s enthusiasm, convinced me I should try to book them for my weekly club night, School Night(which happens every Monday at Bardot in Hollywood).

They played last Monday, with The 88 and guest DJ Ryan Hahn (of Local Natives) also on the bill, and the band was everything I was hoping for and more.

Not only did they reinforce my feeling that “Naked Kids” is a Summer anthem waiting for a following, but the band’s collective vibe is as winning as it gets.

Now that they’ve been signed to Canvasback, a new imprint on Atlantic from A&R heavyweight Steve Ralbovsky (Ray LaMontagne, The Strokes, Kings of Leon), I have no doubt they will find the following they seek.

(Tonight’s School Night features another up and coming local band, Belle Brigade, along with Sonos, Bodega Girls and a DJ set from Alphabeast. Find out all the details here)
