Janet Jackson “JJ01 (MANIK Summer Refix)”

With an upcoming tour and an album in the works, the Summer of Janet is fast approaching.

In celebration of this fact (or maybe just coincidentally), LA-based producer MANIK has released the first of four edits of Ms. Jackson.

MANIK gives Janet Jackson’s 1986 classic, “What Have You Done For Me Lately” a DJ-friendly disco house edit, perfect for the summer on this one.

Head over to XLR8R to pick up a free download of MANIK’s edit.

Usha Uthup vs Alex Israel – Usha (Daphni Edit)

When he’s not touring or making the best album of 2014 as Caribou, Dan Snaith makes music as his alter-alter ego, Daphni.

His latest release as Daphni is a mash-up of Usha Uthup’s “Main Gul Badan” and “Colugo” by Alex Israel.

I wasn’t familiar with either of the original tracks, but I gotta say, together they work nice like chocolate and peanut butter.

***BONUS*** Dâm Funk – STFU EP

KCRW’s free concert series at the Santa Monica Pier kicks off in a few weeks with a concert by Prince’s buddies Morris Day & The Time and local beatgod Dâm Funk.

To whet your appetite ahead of that show here’s a new instrumental EP called STFU Dâm Funk that you can pick up for free over at the Stones Throw website.
