I just got the scoop that more advance tickets will be released tomorrow for the final First Fridays show of 2011 with indie collective Gayngs and opener Dirty Beaches. First Fridays is the fantastic music series at the Natural History Museum (presented by KCRW!) where you can enjoy some of the best bands around in a truly unique setting.
Tickets are usually available at the door as well but, if you’re anything like me, you like to plan ahead. Especially when a great band like Gayngs comes to town.
Gayngs started out as a collaboration between Ryan Olson and Solid Gold members Zack Coulter and Adam Hurlburt but has become a musical project of epic proportions, enlisting the talents of over 25 musicians from across the country, including members of Megafaun, Bon Iver, Rhymesayers. Their music has been described as soulful “smooth rock” and everyone I know who saw them at SXSW had nothing but good things to say.
Throughout the 2011 series, the DJ Lounge, with KCRW’s own selectors on the deck, has been absolutely packed. On June 3, Anthony Valadez and Dan Wilcox will get the crowd moving, and Funky Sole will be taking over the Fin Whale Lounge.
Don’t miss it!
