Ready your freakiest lake beach attire: Desert Daze, SoCal’s farthest-out festival, returns after a year hiatus to the glistening shores of Lake Perris in Oct. 2024. Running from Thursday, Oct. 10 – Sunday, Oct. 13, this year’s ambitiously esoteric lineup rolls out with heavy hitters like Jack White, Thundercat, Liz Phair, De La Soul, Alex G, Cigarettes After Sex, and very special reunions from The Mars Volta and Death From Above 1979.
The latter will be performing the entirety of their landmark 2004 dance punk LP You’re A Woman, I’m A Machine in honor of its 20th birthday. Plus, English psych rockers Temples will do the same for the 10th anniversary of their 2014 debut, Sun Structures.
There’s so much more to explore, including the “Rebel Girl” herself, Kathleen Hanna, in conversation with The Mars Volta’s Cedric Bixler-Zavala about her new memoir. Gold–Diggers in the desert w/ Makaya Mccraven, Jeff Parker (Tortoise), Tommy Guerrero, Carina Round + more. And a JAZZ IS DEAD showcase featuring Ebo Taylor + Pat Thomas and Adrian Younge. Plus, performances by Say She She, Charlotte Adigéry + Bolis Pupul, Floating Points, and Beach Fossils. The Thursday Night Welcoming Committee will commence the whole affair in proper style for the real heads and will feature White Fence, English Teacher, Peel Dream Magazine, Cumgirl8, Psymon Spine and more; and then the Closing Ceremonies will then end the festivities at Desert Daze 2024 with a performance from Desert Daze co-founder Phil Pirrone’s collective jjuujjuu along with many of their friends.
