Ben Harper by Steve Cohn

For the past 30 years, we’ve worked our musical magic from cramped basement studios and we just broke ground on a new building three times the size. We hope to move into our new digs by early 2016.

Ben Harper was on hand to help us celebrate and reflected on his history with the station.

He is a big fan and joked about the dangers of listening to us while driving, saying he’s had to “emotionally gather his wits due to KCRW on numerous occasions” and thanked the station for “keeping my faith in radio.”

Watch below!

He first performed here in 1994 around his first album and visited our studios last year to support his Grammy Award-winning collaboration with Charlie Musselwhite.

I also have to share this photo of Ben, which currently hangs in our hallway down in the basement!
