First… When Brian was a kid, his father Norm was a New York City cop who wasn’t around very often. Norm wasn't abusive, he just didn’t have many boundaries, and he did things like nailing Brian in the chest with a baseball to teach a life lesson. The one fond childhood memory Brian had of his father was Norm, in his underwear, hosing down the family home to protect it from the neighbors house as it went up in flames.
