Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Lenny Kravitz has been releasing albums for almost 25 years, beginning with Let Love Rule in 1989. Acting, however, is a more recent pursuit, one that was proposed to him by director Lee Daniels, who met him in a restaurant and convinced him he should be on the big screen. Kravitz's first role was as Nurse John in Lee Daniel's Precious. He's also been featured in Daniel's most recent film, The Butler. Working with Daniels led to the part of Cinna, Katniss Everdeen's stylist and confidant, in The Hunger Games franchise. Kravitz draws parallels between acting and music, trusting his intuition and citing Miles Davis who said, "It's all about the notes you don't play." He also talks about his mother, actress Roxie Roker, who starred in The Jeffersons and was also a part of the Negro Ensemble Company in New York City, where she'd bring a young Lenny to rehearsals.
