When Kyle Patrick Alvarez decided that he wanted to make a feature film based on the short story 'C.O.G.' by David Sedaris, he knew that convincing the author to grant him the rights would be an uphill battle. So, he wrote a five page email that described in great detail how he would shape the story, and despite the fact that Sedaris has been notoriously reluctant to adapt his work to the screen, and Alvarez only had one film under his belt, the plan worked. C.O.G. stars Jonathan Groff as David, a pretentious young man who moves to Oregon to work on an apple farm. Alvarez talks about why Groff was perfect for the role, and how he hand-picked such a strong supporting cast including Denis O'Hare, Corey Stoll, Troian Bellisario (Pretty Little Liars) and Dean Stockwell.
