Matt Belloni, executive editor of the Hollywood Reporter joins Kim Masters to discuss top entertainment news stories of the week.

- Critics at Cannes have praised performances by Cate Blanchett and Joaquin Phoenix, but there have been no real breakout films at the festival this year.

- While the films themselves may not be generating tons of attention, a fracas at the red carpet known as "flatgate" sure has. Some women were turned away for wearing flats instead of high heels, and some men in long ties were turned away for their lack of bow ties. The problem isn't so much the dress code itself, but that the rules aren't consistently enforced.

- A French reporter heckled Netflix's Ted Sarandos during a keynote presentation, asking if he realized the Netflix model would "destroy the film eco-system in Europe." France has much stricter rules about how long a film must wait before going from theaters to VOD or other media platforms.

- Sumner Redstone's 92nd birthday approaches, but the state of his health remains unclear. He told Vanity Fair via email that he still exercises everyday, but others say he is much more frail. As the owner of two publicly traded companies with media assets like MTV and Comedy Central, and no plan of succession in place, shareholders are arguing that they have a right to know the truth about Redstone's health.
